May 16, 2007- Meeting of the FAC

First meeting of the FAC. The proposed terms of reference were offered (by OOC) and an overview of the Forest Master Plan process was presented, including an initial schedule of events on the process.

September 27, 2007- Meeting of the FAC

Presentation on overview and preliminary findings of the trail study, followed by discussion of the Trail Studies Unit Northumberland County Forest Trail Study (by Dr John Marsh and Al MacPherson)

October 25, 2007-Meeting of the FAC

Presentations were made on the implications of the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan on the development of a Master Plan for the Northumberland County Forest and presentation of a legal opinion on whether or not motorized trail use was a permitted use under this Plan. These presentations were made by Fred Johnson, an expert on the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan and Paul Petersen, the County's lawyer on this matter.

November 29, 2008-Meeting of the FAC

This meeting was held to present and discuss the preliminary recommendations of the Northumberland County Forest Trail Study prepared by John Marsh and his associates in Trent University's Trail Studies Unit.

January 12, 2008- Planning Workshop 1 for the FAC

This workshop was arranged to give each FAC member an opportunity to present their perspective on their needs and concerns respecting the development of a master plan for the Northumberland County Forest. The facilitator presented 6 guiding principles for the continued development of the Master Plan and Dr Marsh introduced 13 underlying criteria for his preliminary recommendations. Discussion on these subjects followed the presentations.

January 24, 2008-Public Information Forum

A Public Information Forum was conducted for the County by the Public facilitator to present the findings of the Northumberland County Forest Trail Study to the public as well as to provide an opportunity for comments and questions supported by a facilitated discussion between the public, the consultants and County Staff.

April 24, 2008-Meeting of the FAC

FAC was provided an update on new business from the County, including the approval by County Council to hire a full time staff person to manage the development of the Forest Master Plan and an accompanying budget, an update on ongoing work on the Northumberland County Forest Trail Study and a presentation by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. There was also another roundtable update on the position and concerns of each FAC member.

May 29, 2008 -Trail User Sub Committee Workshop

This workshop was held by County Staff and the Trail Study consultant with the trail user groups of the FAC to identify trail standards, signage and patrolling and to assess the willingness and ability of the trail user groups in assisting with trail maintenance.

July 5, 2008- Trail Tour

Mia Frankl of the County conducted a trail tour for members of the FAC to come and view some of the areas of concern that have been talked about in the FAC meetings,

October 18, 2008- Planning Workshop 2 for the FAC (Part 1)

The FAC reviewed and commented on the Facilitator's Atlas developed by Ogilvie, Ogilvie and Company to describe the ecological and land use sensitivities of the Forest and surrounding areas and to provide observations and comments that have implications on potential recreational use of the Forest. The FAC was able to review and provide comments on the first three themes in the Atlas.

October 30, 2008 -Planning Workshop 2 (A Catch Up Briefing)

A catch up session was provided for members of the FAC who were unable to attend the October 18, 2008 session. This session focused on the presentation and comments that were made at the October 18th session and provide those who did not attend an opportunity to share initial concerns and observations.

October 30, 2008 -Planning Workshop 2 for the FAC (Part 2)

This workshop was a continuation of the October 18, 2008 in order to complete the review of the Facilitator's Atlas. The FAC were able to complete review and discussion of Theme 4 of the Atlas as well as the Management Implications of Ecological and land use.

February 29, 2009 - Meeting of the FAC

FAC was presented with the trail network proposals and hunting proposals.

March 26, 2009 - Open House

An Open House was held to display the Trail Networks and Hunting proposals for the County Forest.
